INFORMATION FOR ADOPTERS
Our dogs have been through many changes, so it takes time for them to feel safe and secure again. Many of our California dogs were once strays, then spent days or weeks in cold, noisy shelters before enduring a stressful two-day transport to BC. Our Mexican dogs often adjust more quickly, as they travel directly by air from a loving foster home in Huatulco.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see these dogs begin to relax—playing with toys, sleeping peacefully beside us, or eagerly heading out for their daily walks. Dogs are remarkably resilient and truly live in the moment.
While in foster care, we begin basic training and address any medical needs before adoption. Foster time also allows each dog’s personality to emerge, helping us match them with the right home.
As part of the adoption process, we require a home visit to ensure a safe environment and a good fit for the dog’s personality. For adopters in the Vancouver area, this is done in person; for those farther away, we arrange a Zoom home visit.
