LITTLE DOG
RESCUE SOCIETY

We are a BC-registered non-profit society based in Surrey, British Columbia. Years ago, we saw beautiful small dogs being euthanized and knew we had to help. Today, we rescue homeless small dogs from California and Mexico.
In California, animal shelters are currently overwhelmed and at crisis levels, where even small, adoptable dogs can face euthanasia within days. In Mexico, large numbers of dogs roam unfixed, leading to overpopulation. Many family dogs are kept tied by wire to fences or trees, living without companionship, toys, proper shelter, or care. When they are no longer wanted, even small dogs are often abandoned on the streets to fend for themselves.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing these dogs find loving homes in BC, where their lives are transformed. In foster and adoptive homes, they are spoiled with walks, toys, friends, affection, and good nutrition. Due to the high demand for small dogs in BC—and the many large dogs already needing homes in local shelters—we focus our efforts exclusively on small dog rescue.
All of our dogs receive full veterinary care, including spay/neuter, a veterinary exam, microchipping, and vaccinations. Each adoption also includes a leash, harness, and collar.
Every adoption comes with a two-week trial period. For approved Vancouver Island adopters, we offer a courtesy drop-off or pick-up at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal. We place many dogs with Island families.

PLEASE CONSIDER A
SMALL DONATION
Our adoption fee covers transport, basic veterinary care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, exams, micro-chipping, and foster supplies. However, we often face additional medical costs such as blood work, dental cleanings, X-rays, treatment for ear infections, antibiotics, and occasional surgeries. Recently, one dog required a $4,000 luxating patella surgery, and another needed abdominal hernia repair. Veterinary costs add up quickly for rescue organizations.
If you’d like to make a small donation, you can e-transfer littledogrescuesociety@gmail.com or donate directly to our Cloverdale veterinarian at 604-574-0134 by adding it to the Little Dog Rescue Society veterinary expense account.
All donations are greatly appreciated. We do not fundraise and receive very few donations—your support truly makes a difference. 💙
